The Invisible Injury

Concussion is a type of brain injury from direct or indirect trauma to the head and neck that affects brain function resulting in signs and symptoms that develop immediately after, or at a later date.

Gentle rehabilitative manual therapy can be very beneficial for concussion patients and is an important adjunctive intervention particularly early post-concussion. Clinical treatment plays a supportive and significant role in one’s return to function.

Concussion Symptoms Vary, and Can Include:

Headache
Dizziness
Ringing in the ears
Balance problems
Confusion, fogginess
Loss of memory, forgetfulness
Loss of consciousness
Visual disturbances
Light sensitivity
Noise sensitivity
Fatigue
Nausea, vomiting
Slurred speech
Sleep disturbances
Mood, behaviour, or personality changes
Psychological problems
Poor attention or concentration
Increased muscle tension and myofascial restriction of the head, neck, jaw

A full examination by a physician immediately after your concussion is highly encouraged.
