I’ve had a strong focus on self-love, self-care, self-improvement, and self-preservation over the last several months - and this theme will certainly continue throughout 2021 and beyond. Read below, a few things I’m Doing, Reading, and Eating.
What I’m Doing:
Dry brushing. An invaluable three minute daily ritual. Before you shower, use light circular upward (toward the heart) motions with the brush on dry skin. This practise removes dead skin cells, improves the appearance and texture of the skin, allows for much better hydration of the skin, stimulates the circulatory, lymphatic and immune systems (they all work together) — and the job of the lymphatic system is to remove waste, excess fluid and other unwanted materials from the body, so it has a strong detoxifying role. This is hard for me to articulate, how wonderful I feel incorporating this practise into my self-care regime — but I will say this: it powerfully enlivens the mind, body and spirit, and if you’re not dry brushing, you’re doing wrong!
What I’m Reading:
Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker, neuroscientist and renowned sleep expert. Sleep is THE pillar of health. There is a proven amount of sleep our species needs to function our very best, and avoid morbidities and early death. Sleep recalibrates our emotions, restocks our immune system, and regulates our appetite. Sleep makes us cleverer, happier, and more attractive, enhances our ability to learn, and make sound decisions. This book is a game changer.
What I’m Eating:
Greens, greens, and more greens for health + beauty from the inside out. Green produce, and green juice - lately it’s been organic cold pressed celery juice, and an alkalizing green superfoods broth made locally by Ripe Nutrition in Toronto, Ontario, loaded with lemongrass, jalapeño, kale, cilantro, seaweed, celery, zucchini, green onion, spinach, peas, leek, watercress, lime and seasonal organic greens. I also take the green Super Elixir supplement by Welleco. I add 2 tsp to a glass of water every morning for gut health, enhanced energy, hair and nail health, and a robust immune system.
